Before I began the Narconon program I was a heavy class A drug user. The program has given me the ability to confront the reason that I turned to drugs which was that I couldn’t communicate with those around me, felt disconnected, isolated and lonely.
I feel much better after the life skills course. It was really hard for me to trust somebody before, or meet new people, because of things that happened in the past with me. But now I feel much stronger now.
Being here , I have learnt that it is not enough to hide away from things. That I need to face them and learn how to handle them and I really can. Before, I would either want to drink or go shopping to make myself feel better.
I’ve cut ties with two people since I’ve been through the Ups and Downs In Life , and to a point I feel relieved. One of the guys I’ve cut ties with is my brother in law. I was very close to him.
As drugs and alcohol set in on a person so does certain behaviour. Things like lying, hiding and keeping secrets as well as things like where to find the drugs, which drugs give you the best high or how best to handle a come down, all of this behaviour is learned.
